I just found an article again that I saw in PC World. There are a bunch of browser based photo editors (that means they're free :D). I've never used any of them, but the article rates them (top to bottom) here:

1. picnik.com
2. fotoflexer.com
3. photoshopexpress.com
4. splashup.com
5. flauntr.com
6. picture2life.com

Also, I think most operating systems have a default scanning program, I know Windows XP does. And if you have the original install disk for that scanner, I'm almost positive that it would have a very simple interface for scanning. They wouldn't sell you a scanner and then not give you a program to use it. It's usually with the driver. If you don't have the disk, the company probably has a website where you can download the driver and a simple scanning program for free.

That's most of what I know about that. I haven't been able to find the disk for PhotoImpact 4 yet. But because it's so primitive, I'm not sure it'll work on a Mac.

Well, I have a scanner. I just don't have an art program. I've tried downloading GIMP, but that didn't fly. So... I'm kinda stuck. D:
